The Senior every barber knows, rebuilt around a brushless motor.
The Wahl 5 Star Senior 2.0 (#3027984) is a cord/cordless professional clipper with a brushless rotary motor running 8,000 RPM with Adaptive Speed Control. It runs up to 2.5 hours cordless and recharges fully in 75 minutes, which is the longest runtime in Wahl's 5 Star clipper line. Barbers use it for bulk removal, tapering and on-scalp fading where the tool has to hold speed through a full head of dense hair.
- Cut through coarse hair without slowing down: Adaptive Speed Control reads the load and holds 8,000 RPM, which Wahl rates at 20% faster than the previous Senior.
- Two and a half hours between charges: a lithium-ion battery that tops off in 75 minutes, so a lunch break is a full recharge.
- Set your lever once and forget it: the patent-pending taper lever toggles between 5 click positions and free-flow with no tools.
- Blades that keep an edge: the Standard 2.0 blade is high-carbon steel with black PVD chrome and DLC coatings, zero-gap adjustable for a crisp bald line.
- Charge it the way your station is wired: the included Power Station stand, the 5V cord, or a USB-C source.

Questions Barbers Ask
Is the Senior 2.0 the same as the older cordless Senior #08504-400?
No. Those are two different clippers. The Senior 2.0 is model 3027984 with a brushless rotary motor and a 2.5-hour runtime. Model 08504-400 is the earlier 5 Star Cord/Cordless Senior and is still sold separately by Wahl.
How long does the Senior 2.0 run on one charge?
Up to 2.5 hours, with a 75-minute full charge. It also runs corded.
Can it be zero-gapped?
Yes. The Standard 2.0 blade is zero-gap adjustable, and the cutting range runs from 0.5mm to 1.2mm.
Does it charge over USB-C?
Yes. Wahl lists it as USB-C compatible in addition to the 5V cord and the included Power Station stand.
Why Barbers Love It
The Senior has always been the bulk-removal clipper in the drawer, but the old one made you feel the battery fading by the fourth or fifth head. Two and a half hours changes the math on a Saturday. The click/free-flow lever matters more than it sounds too: barbers who fade off the lever hate detents, and barbers who want repeatable lengths need them, and this one does both without a screwdriver.
