Sand is the quiet colourway in the Darkstar range, but the kit is the same as every other: ten size guards from 1 mm to 10 mm, a charging stand and two charging cables, with an integrated travel lock built in.

What speed does it run at?

Supreme Trimmer's own page states 9,000 to 9,100 RPM; several dealers publish 8,000 to 12,000 RPM; Supreme's retail listing states 9,000 RPM. Those cannot all be right, so we are not printing a figure. Every source agrees on the 3-hour run time, which is the number that actually changes your day.

Is the sand version any different mechanically?

No. The Darkstar 72 colourways share the same vector motor, the same DLC blade platform and the same accessory kit. Sand is a finish choice, not a different clipper.

What does the DLC coating do?

Diamond-like carbon is a hard, low-friction surface treatment. On a clipper blade it means less drag through hair, better resistance to corrosion from disinfectant, and a longer interval before the blade needs replacing. The replacement for this platform is the CBT24.

Will the light finish show wear?

Supreme Trimmer does not publish a durability rating for the finish. Any lighter housing shows product residue and scuffs sooner than a black one — wipe it down at the end of each service rather than at the end of the week.
