Questions Barbers Ask

What is the difference between Original and Firme?

Only the hold. Both are water-soluble with the same medium shine. Original is medium hold and combs easily; Firme is strong hold and dries harder. Firme is not shinier — that is the mix-up most retailers make.

How is it different from the Matte Pomade?

Same water-soluble base and same medium hold. Matte has no shine at all. If a client wants the hold of the Original with a dry finish, Matte is the one.

Does it really wash out with just water?

Yes. That is the point of a water-based pomade and the reason most barbers switched off grease.

Dry hair or damp hair?

Suavecito's directions: apply to dry hair for less shine, damp hair for more shine. Start with a quarter-sized amount, work from the roots up, then comb.
