Questions Barbers Ask

What is the actual RPM of the 2020T?

Sources conflict and we will not pick one for you. JRL's current product page publishes 8,200 RPM; multiple established dealers publish 7,200 RPM, which appears to be the figure from the original launch material. Since we cannot reconcile the two, we are leaving the number off rather than printing one that may be wrong. The specs that every source agrees on are the 2-hour runtime, the sub-60dB noise level and the 360° exposed T-blade.

Does the 2020T come with a charging dock?

No. JRL ships a charging adapter with the trimmer; the dock is sold separately. Worth budgeting for if you want it standing on the counter rather than lying on it.

Can it zero-gap out of the box?

Yes — JRL calls it EZ-GAP and the blade is designed for zero-gap setting. The screwdriver you need is in the box. As always, gap it, test it on your own arm before a client, and back it off if it is biting.

Is it quiet enough for kids and nervous clients?

Under 60dB is roughly the level of normal conversation. It is one of the practical reasons barbers reach for this trimmer on children's cuts and on clients who tense up at loud tools.
