Hard or soft gel wax?

Hard for sculpted, defined styles that must not move. Soft for natural looks the client will run their hands through. It is the same family at opposite ends of the hold scale.

Damp or dry hair?

Damp hair gives the highest shine and easiest distribution. Dry hair gives maximum grip. For extreme hold styles, damp then blow-dried into shape usually holds best.

Can it be restyled during the day?

Less easily than a soft wax. That is the trade-off — you get the hold, you give up the flexibility.
