How do I build the lather?

Soak the brush, shake it out, and swirl on the puck for twenty to thirty seconds. Finish building in a mug or straight on the face until the lather turns glossy and holds a peak.

The puck is sized for a standard barber shave mug or lather bowl and can be pressed in to seat flat.

Soap or cream — which should I stock?

Soap costs less per shave and lasts far longer on the back bar. Cream builds faster if you are turning shaves quickly. Plenty of shops keep both.
