Is this only for the RoseFX trimmer?

No. The rose gold finish matches RoseFX, but BaBylissPRO lists it as fitting FX797, FX787, FX726 and FX773N. It will work on a GoldFX or BlackFX body, it just will not match.

When should I choose deep tooth over standard tooth?

When your book is heavy on coarse, dense hair and thick beards. Deep tooth feeds more per pass and clears bulk faster. On fine hair or thin skin, standard tooth is the more comfortable blade.

Does it need gapping before use?

It is zero-gap adjustable, not pre-gapped. Set it in small increments, check the blade is level from both ends, and oil before the first pass.
