The Recon AMP'D Blade is Andis's upgrade blade for the Recon Clipper. A 28-tooth cutter paired with a thinner cutting blade and a deeper grooved stationary blade gives it the audible crunch the AMP'D line is known for. Adjustable from 0000 to 0A on the lever, and zero-gappable.

Why did the guard fit change?

Because the blade changed. The AMP'D uses a 28-tooth cutter, a thinner cutting blade and a deeper grooved stationary blade — the geometry that produces the crunch. That reshapes the surface a guard has to grip, which is why Andis built a dedicated comb set for it.

Will this fit my Phenom?

Andis sells a separate Phenom AMP'D Blade, #564795. The two share the 28-tooth and 0000–0A spec, but Andis lists them as distinct items. Order 564793 for a Recon and 564795 for a Phenom.

Does it fit the Recon Trimmer?

No. The Recon Trimmer #562697 is a T-blade tool. This is a clipper blade for the Recon Clipper #562257.

Is it DLC coated?

It is stainless steel. Andis publishes DLC for the sibling Phenom AMP'D blade and for the Recon Phaze blade, but not for this one — so if a retailer tells you this blade is DLC, they are repeating the wrong spec sheet.

What does AMP'D mean?

It is a blade line within Andis's LYNC System, defined by the 28-tooth cutter and the crunch. The AMP'D magnetic comb set #564994 is built for the same system.

How is it different from the Phaze blade my Recon came with?

The Phaze is the stock blade. AMP'D changes the geometry — more teeth on the cutter, a thinner cutting blade, deeper grooves on the stationary. Barbers buy it for the feed and the sound, not for a different length range.
